Geocache Description:

Located near the public camping area and boat launch at Big Jim Pond, Jim Pond Township, north of Eustis , Maine.

From Route 27 turn at the sign that says King & Bartlett Road (on your right if coming from the south). Go across the wooden bridge over the Dead River, then take the first left. You will be on Airport Road. Bear left at the next intersection, go down a hill, across a small wooden bridge over the Big Jim Pond outlet, then up a steep hill, all on dirt roads. Just beyond the 3 mile sign and the stop sign, go right for about .6 miles more. Then go left for the final 1.1 miles. This brings you to the camping area, plenty of parking, the boat ramp and the pond. A short walk back to the cache. After you find the cache, check out the area. Look for moose feeding near shore across the pond. There will be loons nesting in the early summer. Put in your kayak and go left up the inlet, then head down the pond towards a view of the Bigelow Range to the outlet, check out the cove. Good fishing here. The cache is a 30 cal ammo can with small moose, deer and bear items and a few toys. This is one of my favorite places on earth and when we first starting coming here it took us a long time to figure out the roads to get to it. Take time to enjoy it and treat it kindly.
