Umístení
Asi 8 km již. od Chebu se na levém brehu Odravy poblíž nemecké hranice se nachází obec Slapany. Vesnice vznikla asi ve 14. století. Zustala pomerne malou vsí ve které ve 30. letech žilo asi 250 obyvatel. Význam vsi ponekud vzrostl po vybudování železnicní trati Cheb-Waldsassen, kdy ve Slapanech vzniklo nádraží a celnice. Po této trati prijel do Chebu první vlak (15.10.1865). Trat byla již od pocátku své existence hojne využívána jak pro osobní, tak i pro nákladní dopravu. Zastávka Slapany vznikla až v roce 1898 a zdejší nákladište bylo napojeno na cedicový lom. Na významu však slapanská trat zacala ztrácet už po roce 1883, kdy byl zahájen provoz na dosud existující trati z Chebu pres Schirnding do Marktredwitzu. Poslední prímý rychlík Mnichov – Karlovy Vary tudy projel v roce 1914. Ješte v roce 1947 posloužila odsunu nemeckého obyvatelstva. Poté byl provoz pres státní hranici definitivne zastaven. Dnes je na cásti bývalé trate zprovoznena první cást cyklostezky : Slapany-Krásná Lípa-Státní hranice.
Krásná Lípa je pritom název západní cásti vsi. Za socialismu tudy vedli zátarasy takže tato cást zcela zmizela. Místo dnes pripomíná už jen památník na míste bývalého hrbitova. Ješte jednou vecí je však Krásná Lípa krásná. Prijedte sem kdykoliv a témer vždy se zde na Vás alespon na chvilku usmeje slunce. To je na chebské pomery pomerne vzácné zjištení.

Location
About 8 km south of Cheb on the left bank of the river Odrava near the German border is village Slapany. The village was founded in the 14th century. It is relatively small village which in the 30 years lived about 250 people. The importance of the village somewhat increased after the establishment of rail track Cheb-Waldsassen when in Slapany creating a customs station. Following this line came to Cheb first train (15.10.1865). The track has been since the beginning of its existence widely used as personal as well as for freight transport. Station Slapany was founded in 1898 and then it was connected to the local places of expedition of basalt quarry. However, the importance of track Slapany began to lose it after the year 1883, which began operations in the still existing route from Cheb over Schirnding to Marktredwitz. Last direct express Munich - Karlovy Vary passed through in 1914. Even in 1947 served the redeployment of the German population. Following the operation was over the state border definitely stopped. Today is part of the former tracks making the first part of cycling: Slapany-Krasna Lipa-state boundaries.
Krasna Lipa is the name of the western part of the village. Under socialism this way led obstacles so that part completely disappeared. Instead now recalls only memorial to place a former cemetery.
