LavaLizard: When it announced that Anza Borrego Desert State Park would no longer allow geocaches, this cache was disabled in hopes that we could come to an arrangement where some geocaches could remain in the Park. Many years have passed and the situation has not changed and as this cache owner now seems to be inactive, I am archiving this cache.

Geocache Description:

Located in Hellhole Canyon of Anza Borrego Desert State Park in Southern California.

In one of the hottest and driest deserts of Southern California there is a surprising oasis of palms, ferns, and cottonwoods that flourish around a hidden waterfall know as Maidenhail falls a few miles up Hellhole Canyon.

Start from the Hellhole Canyon parking area just south of the Visitor Center in Borrego Springs. Hike up the trail for a little over two miles until you hit water near a palm oasis and continue on past Maidenhair Falls which will offer a cool refreshing respit from the brutally hot hike in. Continue on along a trail which gets progressively worse the furthur it gets past the falls. Look for a hugh flat toped boulder which will be your stopping point unless you want to continue on the Culp Valley at the top of the canyon.
