The Memorial: The town of Colts Neck lost five people on September 11th 2001. This memorial garden, featuring Jim Gary's sculpture of metal and stained glass was dedicated to their memory.
The Hide: To keep cachers out of the garden or sculpture, the cache is located on one of the benches in a typical magnetic fashion. I used a container as large as I believed the area would support. Use stealth in your retrieval & replacement and it should be fine.
The History:The memorial garden in Colts Neck was created to be the location for a memorial to the members of the community lost in the attack upon the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Colts Neck lost five good men: John Casazza, Dennis Cook, Paul Furmato, James Ladley and John Murray. After a competition where many artists submitted designs for the memorial, Jim Gary was selected to create the memorial and he created the metal sculpture that stands before you. At the dedication of the memorial Jim also gave a small sculpture to each of the five families from Colts Neck who lost a member in that attack. Jim Gary grew up in Colts Neck — so the loss was very personal to him. He was very honored to be chosen to create the sculpture and is probably best known for his often life-sized dinosaur sculptures that can be seen all around New Jersey.
