This cache is located on what was a military installation during WWII. Amazing by today's standards, Clinton's bustling Schick Hospital was built in less than a year on about 100 acres of former farmland and the city's old Root Park.
It emerged at a cost of about $2.5 million, well under its initial budget, with "first-class" everything.
It had a gymnasium, a theater, an Olympic-sized swimming pool. There were maybe 62 or 63 buildings.
The Clinton facility drew Hollywood movie stars to entertain wounded soldiers from all parts of the country, employed thousands of staff and even housed Italian prisoners of war during the height of the conflict.
But its heyday was fleeting. World War II ended when VJ Day came. The facility closed in early 1946, ending an important era in Clinton history.
Every military base numbers its buildings as an address system. Building #1 is always the post flagpole.
Happy caching
Congratulations to Cosmic Cachers for yet another FTF
