The first person buried in Redman’s Cemetery on Jan. 27, 1887 in S.W. corner.

Thomas Burl Adams:
Killed In Action in VietNam on Mar. 4, 1968
Awarded the "Purple Heart"
Awarded the "Bronze Star Medal"

John Gillis Townsend, Jr:
Member of Delaware State House of Representatives, 1901-03
Delegate to Republican National Convention from Delaware (many years between 1904 and 1960)
Governor of Delaware, 1917-21
U.S. Senator from Delaware, 1929-41
His company, Townsend, Inc., was the largest poultry processor in the country, and at one point he was the second largest orchardist in the nation.
