Dr. George Glick (1827-1910)
Born in Germany, George immigrated to America with his family in 1840. Glick attended medical school in Ohio, graduating in 1849. In 1856, George and his wife moved to Marshalltown where they lived the remainder of their lives. When Dr. Glick died in June 1910, Marshalltown’s Time-Republican obituary included:
“He was one of the makers of Marshalltown – a builder of churches, court house and railroads. The public interest was his interest and the public schools were an important part. And this, more than all else, endears him to those who were his fellow citizens.”
Jordan-Heintz, Sara. Remembering Dr. Glick. Times-Republican, January 2018.
