Amazing Grace Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

briansnat: I stopped by today. Didn't see any No Trespassing signs, but judging from the fence across both ends of the bridge, the authorities don't want people on it. That didn't stop people from crossing it however, as several groups did so while I was exploring the area

Bummer because I always thought this one of my best caches. Stay tuned for a replacement or replacements that don't require using the bridge.

Geocache Description:

****NOTE: The first stage has been moved because the area of the first stage has been temporarily closed due to storm damage. You can see the missing hillside in front of you at stage 1. To access this cache without entering the closed section seekers will need to cross the river after finding this stage and re-cross it again. The hunt will be a bit longer but I'm sure the new route will add to the fun level.

I'm leaving the text below in hopes I can eventually move the first stage back to it's cool, original location.*****

This is a short, three stage multi in the far reaches of Grace Lord park. The first two stages are micros and the final is a Nalgene bottle. Entire hunt shouldn't take much more than 45 minutes..

Boonton is an historic town and the area surrounding the Rockaway River was the heart of Boonton's early industry.

Wandering about the area, one can discover numerous ruins. Often its hard for the casual observer to figure out what the purpose of the structures was. This cache takes you past some interesting remains of Boonton's past.

Note: The first stage is not hidden among the ruins. Do not look there for the cache. Do check them out. I'm curious as to what they might be and wonder what others think. One I'm guessing could be a kiln. Be careful though as they are fragile.

The 2nd stage will be a challenge for anybody with a hint of vertigo and is the reason for the relatively high terrain rating.

GPS reception is really fluky in this area. I used two units (a Magellan and Garmin) and both had a hard time with reception, so this adds a half star to the difficulty rating.
