Geocache Description:

Rosebush and Bellstone Quarry

This cache is located not too far from another cache called Preseli Tops... a little further away in the opposite direction another is hidden... Tubbs Treasure.

The location of this cache is in quite a tricky location. It is certainly not to be undertaken if you are not very able on your feet. I don't want to give too much away!

The Rosebush and Bellstone quarries were established some time in the 1840s and were at their busiest during the 1870s. It is said that the slate from Rosebush makes the roof of the Houses of Parlement at Westminster!

There is a lovley pond not too far from the cache, which is just perfect for a swim in the summer months. I used to come up to this quarry to play a lot when I was in my early teens... lots of places to explore, hours could be wasted there when we were kids.

Today we picked blueberries at the quarry and came away with a couple of pounds in weight of the little treasures! The best time of the year to do this is during the last week of July.

This is the first cache we have hidden and we hope you enjoy it. It is a small sandwich box type container and initially will contain a Log Book, a set of coloured pencils, a comb, a Pontardawe Festival pin badge, a marble, a childs toy torch, a small 'Kinder' rabbit figure and a new sealed musical toy from an international fast food chain. We have also placed in this cache a Netherlands Travel Bug that we picked up yesterday from the Nevern-a cache!

In this Cache we have placed a new Travel Bug who we have called Ellie. Ellie is a small elephant that wants to be photographed with other elephants all over the world. She would like to end her journey in Sydney, Australia where a friend of ours can collect her and return her to Wales. If you can help Ellie on her journey we would be most gratefull.

We would love to see your pictures of nearby posted on the gallery of this item.

Thank you and enjoy the cache!

The PRESELI team.
