Geocache Description:

A quick, easy cache in a beautiful forest setting. It reminded us of the "Hundred Acre Woods" and Winnie the Pooh. Eeyore could be hiding nearby.

This should be quick to find and a fun location. Although the trailhead is right next to the road, most people would never even know it was there unless they stopped to look. I took an average between two GPSr's, but if you're even close, a little bit of thinking should make this one easy to discover. Great for kids or anyone looking for a quick-stop cache.

To find this cache, park at the trailhead located at 38*35.218 N 77*18.033 W. From there, it's just a short walk into the forest. The cache shouldn't be hard to find, but make sure and take time to enjoy the beautiful forest with its full-sized hardwoods.

My wife and I found so many cool looking trees that we decided to name some of them. Right by the "crossroads", make sure and check out the "Peace Sign" (trees that look like someone with their fingers in a "V"). We also noted "The Hunchback", "The Three Fates", "The Rainbow", "Peep Hole", "The Urinal" (okay...it really does look like one), "A Mother's Arms", "Mismatched Couple" (an evergreen tree and a hardwood growing out of each other),and "The Triple Tree Splitter".

The cache consists of a 1-gallon rectangular Rubbermaid container. There is something in it for everyone. Original contents include the logbook; a $2 bill; an emergency blanket; a bag of marbles; a glowstick; a package of metalic push pins; a blue and a red sidewalk chalk; a package of stretchy dinosaurs; a package of stretchy lizards; a map compass; a miniature deck of cards, and a package of Winnie the Pooh bandaids (of course).

I have tried to stock the cache with nice stuff...please try to trade equal or better stuff to keep the cache worthwhile. Thanks to my wife, GeoIris for helping place this one!

P.S. There's a nice surprise (a 3-in-1 digital pocket camera) waiting for the FTF!

Lauralove contacted me to tell me that this cache was temporarily "relocated" by her children...met up with her tonight and got the cache back in place.
I'm glad I visited, because the "terrain" has changed! Since I last visited, the tree we nicknamed "Peace Sign" (because it was made of two giant trees joined at the hip in the shape of a "V") has come down. It was interesting to look inside the giant base and realize that what looked completely solid was actually rotten and hollow throughout the base. It must have been something when that tree came down! (but did it make a sound...with nobody there to hear it?)

The tree has fallen across the path, but an adult should be able to navigate over it pretty easily (kids can go under it if they want to). No need to change the rating for the cache, though.
