The Pit Stop resides in a wonderful location with beautiful vistas in almost every direction. If you are interested in doing some bushwhacking, you may even be able to get a really open clear view of the canyon. The day I placed it you could see Catalina, so that's at least 30 miles that direction.
I am a car fanatic. The Pit Stop is a "themed" cache. I'd like you to try and replace the car themed contents with other car themed contents. However, if you don't have any car thing handy (a tire gauge, a screwdriver, a nut), feel free to place what you'd like!
A few noteworthy points:
1) Please be careful of the local foliage and scrub brush. Not many people pass this way, so let's keep it clean.
2) Beware of the following: Rattlesnakes, Mountain Lions, Deer, Coyotes, Racoons, Scorpions, Black widows, Red Ants, and Ticks.
One of the houses in your view of the canyon is me, so I'll be watching you!
6/9/09 - got notification that "UV PROOF" bucket is degenerating, I'll try to get up there with a replacement soon.
3/14/12 I'm, placing a new log book in the cache, the original one is now FULL after 11 years! Please keep the cache hidden under rocks, and a bit to the side so that it cannot easily be seen from just anyone above. I corrected this today.
08/27/12 replaced the container with a new one. hoping to replace/refurbish the contents (that were water damaged around mother's day from the lid failing) soon.
10/12/12 contents "restored".
02/04/21 Cache has been lost/stolen/removed - will consider replacing.
10/15/23 - Replenished Cache.
05/28/24 - Disappointed few hard core geocachers still exist, no activity at The Pit Stop.
01/12/25 - Cache Melted up in Palisades Fire. Will replace and notify. DANGEROUS TO APPROACH FROM EITHER DIRECTION.
