Goffle Brook was originally intended to highlight historic
structures of Passaic County. Over the years several of these
structures have been razed, much to the chagrin of 21st century
local historians. In an effort to revise interest in the park and
to preserve a part of Passaic County History, the Magee-road bridge
of Ringwood was moved here. Not exactly like moving the London
Bridge to Arizona, but it is a great way to get closer look at this
example of a hybrid truss bridge design. The old bridge is a pony
truss style bridge, 16 ½ feet wide, and has been designated a
historic bridge by New Jersey Department of Environmental
Protection Historic Preservation Officer.
The bridge is now installed as a pedestrian bridge in Goffle
Brook Park in Hawthorne, which is designated in the National
Register of Historic Places.
