Geocache Description:

Yes, it really is a piece of cake to find, but takes some agility and scrambling skills.

The cache is overlooked from a distance and is also popular with muggles at certain times

The area between Vazon and Cobo bay contains several of Guernsey most obvious and notable rocks. They are notable for a number of reasons, one of which being they contain a veritable zoo of wild animals and the other, less known reason, is that they house an old fortification.

The main rock around Albecq is commonly known as Lion Rock, due to the fact that, at certain angles, it resembles the head of a lion. This is just one of the animals on display though as on the other side of of the small bay, known as Portelet, stand not only a monkey, but a camel as well.

But that is not all there is of interest on this series of rocks. Around the base of Lion Rock stand a series of small walls ruins that mark the placement of an ancient fortification thought to be a lookout point guarding the entrance to both Albecq and Cobo Bay.

It is thought the 'Chateau Albecq' was used until the Burton Battery was constructed on the hill above the bay and since then the original fortification fell into disrepair and coastal erosion started to do its job on the headland.

The cache is fix in position, please do no try to move it.
