During your hunt for the cache you will discover two fine burial
places:-
The Giant’s Grave is known by several names, Long Cairn, Parc le
Breos Tomb and Parc Cwm Long Cairn. It is a classic example of a
transepted gallery grave dated as far back as 3,500 BC. Discovered
and excavated in 1869 the remains of around 24 human skeletons were
uncovered.
Cat Hole is the easiest of Gower’s caves to explore. The cave
was only excavated in 1958 when flint blades, pottery fragments and
two human skeletons were found. The further discovery of broken
burial urns suggests that the cave was used as a funeral ground
during the Bronze Age.
If you decide to explore the cave please respect the fact
that this as an important winter roost for Lesser Horseshoe and
other species of bat.
The cache is a 1l tupperware style container in a green camo
bag, and contains a logbook, pen, pencil, sharpener, and several
items for trade.
