Castelo de Vide está ligada às suas fontes e nascentes de água, como é o caso da monumental Fonte da Mealhada, cuja construção remonta ao ano de 1699. Formada por quatro bicas representando cabeças de leões esculpidas em mármore, oferece a quem a visita uma água recomendada no tratamento de doenças de estômago, fígado e rins.
Nesta, como em tantas outras fontes, reza a lenda : "Se quiser voltar a Castelo de Vide, beba a água da Fonte da Mealhada. E traga uma noiva. Porque quem bebe desta fonte, volta aqui para casar".
Hoje é o nome de uma bela fonte, mas já foi em tempos nome de àgua mineral engarrafada dela proveniente.

Castelo de Vide is bounded to it's fountains and water springs, like this splendorous Fonte da Mealhada (Mealhada's Fountain), built around 1699. The water flows from two of it's four sprouts, depicting in marble the head of a lion. The water is recommend in the healing of deceases related with the digestive system.
In this, like in so many other fountains, the legend states : "If you want to return to Castelo de Vide, drink from this fountain. And next time, bring a bride. For the one who drinks from the fountain returns here to get married".
Today is the name of this nice fountain, but it was also once the name of a bottle mineral water, collected here.
