Ootahime Inari Shinto shrine

太田姫稲荷神社

太田道灌の娘姫君が重い病気になり世にも頼りなくなった時、京都伏見の一口の里から一口稲荷神社の故事を聞いた道灌が使者を遣わし祈祷の一枝を勧誘し城内本丸に社を建立したそうです。

 その後、祈祷により姫の病が完治し、姫も社を信仰するようになりました。
 長禄元年(1457)、道灌の枕もとに白狐が現れ「われこの城の鬼門を守るベし」と言われ大田姫稲荷大明神と奉唱したそうです。

 徳川家康が江戸城に入城されたあと、社を城内西の丸の鬼門にあたる、神田駿河台東側の大坂に移築されました。
 慶應2年本郷春木町より出火した大火で社殿を焼失その後再建するも、関東大震災では再び焼失、御神体のみを湯島天神に避難させ、昭和六年十二月十四日鉄道工事拡張のため現在地に移転されました。

金山神社が併祀されています。
