Geocache Description:

The Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad Preservation Society was founded in 1986 to preserve the heritage of the renowned and historic "Ma & Pa" Railroad. Our goal is to promote an appreciation for the fundamental role the railroad played in the culture and development of the region and in the daily life of the communities it served.

This is one of 3 caches that have been placed in Muddy Creek Forks which is part of the right-of-way that goes from Laurel to Bridgeton.  By locating these caches, we are hoping that you will have a greater appreciation for the Ma & Pa Railroad, its history, and what the preservation society is trying to do.

You are searching for a kid-friendly ammo box on the property of Ma & Pa Preservation Society at Muddy Creek Forks.  In order to find this cache, you will need to get some information from their website at www.maandparailroad.com  prior to searching for the cache.  By locating this information, you will then have the final coordinates for the cache which are N39 48.ABC W076 28.DEF.  You will need to find this information and then plug in the numbers for the final location:

A=# of the mile post that Jack Leonard is in possession of -17.

B=amount it costs for a student membership +4.  Use the dollar amount only, no cents.

C=# of combined contacts listed under Equipment Maintenance and Track Maintenance

D=# of Tool Car X-___  -7.

E=# of acual miles that connected Baltimore and York -38.

F=year of the train wreck in Rocks, MD -1947.

When you have the answers to the puzzle, you can then locate the final cache.  We are hoping that you will gain a better appreciation of what this group of people are doing and why it's important.  Included in the cache are some pamphlets giving information about the preservation society and membership information.

FTF prize is a voucher good for a train ride on the Ma & Pa.  This is only available during operation times and dates which are located on the brochures and on the website.

This cache is available only in the daytime and while you have permission to walk on the tracks, please be considerate of private property nearby. Parking is available in front of the general store or in the field across the road from the store. The coordinates for the cache will take you to the parking area.
