To My Esteemed Colleague Colorado Jones,
Your letter describing your encounter with the Kahonee people
brings to mind a similar encounter I had while exploring the
Pacific Northwest not far from that very location. During my
travels I discovered many old legends, none of these has captured
my curiosity as much as the legend of The Bridge Of The
Gods. I was so enthralled by this legend that I set off to
locate the crack that was said to be its source. During my search I
was lucky enough to discover the Tatooshe people themselves. These
people, while not as secretive as the Kahonee, were just as
friendly and loved adventure. Softer of form and stature, they
still managed to amaze me with their prowess and seeking ability.
Many nights I spent learning of their sacred places from their
elders.
It seems the Tatooshe have a ceremonial tree near the base of
the crack spoken of in the legend, and further up the Two Chiefs
Trail is a sacred waterfall. The elders told me that the key to
locating the ancient cache spoken of in the legend could be found
within a small cave at the base of this waterfall. Upon further
exploration of the area I was indeed able to locate the ceremonial
tree and the crack itself. However I was unable to locate the key
within the cave that the elders had described. The journey to this
location is nearly 5 miles of foot travel through the Tatooshe
lands from the edge of civilization at N45 38.930 W121
58.613.
While I was not able to locate the secret key, I forward
this letter to you in hopes that you may succeed where I could not.
In the name of secrecy, I cannot divulge all the details to you,
but I have hidden a map nearby to aid you in finding the
artifacts. Locate the map near the coordinates I have given
you, continue on the Two Chiefs Trail until you come to the
sacred waterfall and find the ancient key hidden in the cave at its
base. The key is now located in the map cache - look for
something copper. Please leave the key in the map cache. Armed with
this information you should be able to locate the cache of
artifacts hidden near the base of the crack.
Yours in adventure,
Ekkahnam Smith
- This is a long hike in the deep forest. Plan
on getting there early and using the whole day. Go
prepared!
- Do not go alone, and make sure others know
where you are going and when to expect you back.
- Take plenty of food and water.
- A good walking staff is
recommended.
- Wear sturdy hiking shoes.
- While the trail is easy to follow, it is
steep in spots and can get rather slick in the rain.
- The final location has very unstable and
rocky footing. Also there is falling rock in the area fairly often.
Please be aware of your surroundings at all times.
- You may need a flashlight for at least part
of this hunt.
