Geocache Description:

The cache is in Arroyo Verde Park. The park has a great trail system with geocaches distributed all along the way, making this the ideal place for a family hiking experience. Bring a picnic lunch (Hazel Snodgrass and Redwood Glenn picnic area both have nearby geocaches) and enjoy a good afternoon.

VenturaToyChest was my first geocache hide - dedicated to the young and old who enjoy a good family hike and geocaching opportunity! Yes, this cache is a real "toy chest" stocked with goodies to spark the interest of the young geocacher.

Over the years, this cache has been muggled several times and I have moved it around to try to keep it safe - but accessible - for the enjoyment of geocachers, especially newbies. This has been a high maintenance cache so I have taking a new approach by making this a simple but still challenging 2-stage multicache - with the added bonus of a Garmin Chirp also installed at the first stage. But you don't need the latest Garmin with Chirp capability to find the 2nd and final cache. The 1st stage container is also stocked with slips of paper with the final stage coordinates and hint.

The first stage is located at the site of the original cache and same hint applies. The cache contains a log sheet and slips of paper with the location of the 2nd Stage "toy chest". Or if you have a newer Garmin model with the wireless feature, you can just walk up to the first cache and upload the coordinates and hint for the second cache. HINT FOR THE SECOND STAGE: Most direct approach is to use the trail head across the road from Redwood Glen Picnic Area.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When finding either cache, be very discreet that Muggles do not see you removing the cache or replacing it. When replacing the "toy chest", be sure to cover it up really well!

If you take something, be sure to leave something! Everyone loves to see a cache full of trinkets!

This cache is one of the most popular geocaches in Ventura. Enjoy!
