Detta är cache #3 (av 11) i "Handen"-serien.
This is cache #3 (of 11) in the "Handen" series.

I det här området låg på 1930-talet Handens Centrum. Här fanns en mängd olika affärer och caféer. Busshållplatsen som idag heter "Handens Närsjukhus" hette då "Handens Centrum". Idag är hela denna plats förändrad. Platsen där gymmet är beläget idag, fanns förut en bensinmack, en bilhandlare och en affär tidigare.

På 1950-talet byggdes ett nytt centrum upp närmare skolan, men låg fortfarande en aning för långt bort från tågstationen. Där fanns då plats för en restaurang och några butiker. Detta centrum finns idag kvar mellan Vikingavägen och Bragevägen, och kallas idag ”Lillcentrum”. Tidigare stod där den gamla Smedstugan, som brändes ner för att ge plats åt centrumet. Det nuvarande Haninge Centrum började byggas i början av 1960-talet, och det var då man döpte om det gamla till Lillcentrum. Smedstugan gav namn åt Smedvägen som ligger i närheten.

In this area, in the 1930's, the Handens Centrum was located (The Shopping Centre of Handen). Here were many shops and cafés at that time. The bus stop, which today is named "Handens Närsjukhus" was at that time named "Handens Centrum". Today this whole place is completely changed. The place where the gym is located, there was before a gas station, a car sale and a general store.

In the 1950's there was a new shopping centre built up, more close to the school, but still a bit too far from the railway station. There were room for a restaurant and a couple of shops. That shopping centre is still there, and is located between Vikingavägen and Bragevägen, and is today called “Lillcentrum” (Small Shopping Centre). Before that was built, the old house "Smedstugan" (Smith Cottage) was located at place. It was burnt down to give room for the new shopping centre. When the present shopping centre “Haninge Centrum” was being built in the beginning of 1960's, the old centre was renamed to Lillcentrum. The Smedstugan gave a nearby road the name "Smedvägen".
