This
is multi-stage cache located in Wake County. There is a
series of micros hidden along a trail leading to a regular
ammo container. Parking is available at the trailhead on
Wimberley Road near N 35 45.682 W 078 55.278. The
publicly owned trail is broad, flat, straight and covered
with gravel screenings making it very friendly to hikers,
joggers and bikers. Most of the trail is shady making it a
pleasant family walk even on hot sunny days. There are some
new bridges and even a tunnel to experience during this trek.
Be sure to stay on the trail at the fence at one crossing -
stay to the left. Some beaver activity was spotted as well as
deer. The tick/chigger/poison ivy/bug/mud quotient is very
very low. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended but the
trail can be walked with regular street shoes.
The micros are hidden and finding them will be difficult. They
vary in type and location and you will find the coordinates for the
next stage in each container if there is one. You will have to be
very observant and think outside the box on the first two micros.
Bushwacking (professional help is available for anyone wanting to
bushwack any part of this one) isn't necessary except briefly to
find the final ammo can. Some of you will recognize some of the
containers and techniques although there are some new wrinkles.
Watch out for the horse riders who show much disrespect for the
other hikes leaving piles of manure all along the trail.
