Lunch: 12:00 pm Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided (bring a

Stage 1: hide at 1:00 pm
Stage 2: Seek at 3:00
pm
What:
An opportunity to meet and greet fellow
geocachers, “HIDE” some caches and “SEEK” some caches. This
geocache meet and greet event is a MULTI-STAGE EVENT and will
comprise two “FLASH MOB” events; one to “HIDE” a cache and one to
“Seek” a cache. Bring your own caches to hide. Ingredients are
simple: A cache container (ammo can or a water tight plastic
container), log book, plastic sandwich bag, pencil, and a few
trinkets. You just need to show up and sign the register to get a
smiley; it is not necessary to participate in everything. Just one
basic rule: HAVE
FUN!
STAGE ONE is from 1:00 to 1:30
PM: TIME TO
HIDE!!
The first
geocaching “flash mob” for this event will be for ½ hour to sign in
a log sheet. Upon signing in, geocachers are then free to go hide a
cache in the general vicinity of the event cache. We would
recommend a radius of less than seven miles from the event site.
After hiding a cache or two, return back to the event site by 3:00
pm. Upon returning, each geocacher will write the coordinates and
the name of each cache that they have hidden down on the provided
sheets. Also, a laptop with Mapsource on it will be at the event,
so that the new hides can be entered into a data file, checked for
the minimum 1/10th of a mile separation (any conflicting
coordinates will be resolved by coin flip), and easily downloaded
into anyone's GPS that accepts Mapsource
files.
STAGE TWO is from 3:00 to 3:30 pm: TIME TO
SEEK!!
Geocachers meet for the second and
final “flash mob” for ½ hour whereby lists are passed out with
cache coordinates for the new hides on
them.
Aftermath: List your new hides on
geocaching.com
Afterwards, hiders
will post their finds on geocaching.com. If anyone needs help doing
this, there are sure to be lots of folks around to give advice as
to how to do so on geocaching.com at the event. After one year, we
recommend that you archive each cache you have hidden at this event
prior to the next Geoswarm Hide and Seek Event, so we can do it all
over
again!.
In keeping with the theme of
this event, we recommend that all caches hidden as part of
this event be named with the following basic naming
convention: "Geoswarm: [geoaching
name]".
For example, the cache name for a cache hidden by
rathergohiking would be "Geoswarm:
Rathergohiking".
