Geocache Description:

Cache is located in a valley on the banks of Lott's Creek.

The location of this cache has both historical and personal significance.  Soldiers from Fort Dodge, who were sent up in March of 1857 to aid the settlers in the Spirit Lake Massacre, are said to have camped nearby to wait out a blizzard.  There is still an original cabin from the massacre standing at Arnold's Park.  You can visit that if you like.  There are also 2 cabins on private land, owned by Camp Foster, YMCA.

This cache is located next to a farm that I spent a lot of time at as a kid.  To your east you can see the farm.  The big red barn was the site of many adventures.  It had a great haymow to play in.  Many sparrows and pidgeons made their homes in the haymow.  I was employed to help them move to a different site using a Red Ryder BB Gun.

I fished for bullheads in Lott's Creek.  To the west of the cache is a big hill that I used to ride a toboggan down.  At the top of that hill is a farmhouse that I knew the owners of real well.  He was really into antiques.
