At the posted coordinates, you will find a memorial to a city -
a city that was completely demolished to make room for the
interchange between I-75 and US-27. The memorial is visible while
traveling southbound (east, really, at this particular point) on
I-75. Just before you cross US-27, look on the wall to your left
(being in the left lane will help).
One of the last surviving artifacts of this city is a green
highway sign that bears its name. Just a few clicks worth of
research will lead you to where that sign is presently on display.
The cache can be found approximately 60 feet away from that sign on
a heading of 195 degrees from true north.
As this cache is a letterbox hybrid, it contains a stamp and a
log book. If you're a letterboxer, please bring your own ink pad.
Stamp the cache log book with your personal stamp, and stamp your
personal log book with the cache stamp. Please leave the cache
stamp in the cache! (This letterbox is also listed on the
Letterboxing North
America site.)
The First To Find is a unique project designed to motivate
those cachers who are quick enough to snag an FTF to hide their own
FTF geocache. Whoever is the FTF at a FTF cache is encouraged to
keep the series moving forward by hiding the next cache in the FTF
series, numbering the cache accordingly. If you are FTF, please do
your part to expedite this series' growth! All of you FTF hounds
know who you are! If, however, you are FTF and are unable or
unwilling to continue this series, please make it clear in your
online log that you are passing on the option to the next finder.
There is no obligation to participate! Hope you have fun with
it!
