Cache ubicado en el famoso Cerro de San Pedro, en el vertice donde confluyen los terminos de Colmenar Viejo, Soto del Real y Guadalix de la Sierra, a 1420m de altitud.
Colmenar Viejo ya posee 2 magnificos caches, por lo que he pensado en una bonita ubicacion para crear un tercero y que los geocachers que nos visiten puedan matar "3 pajaros" en un dia. Por eso he elegido un lugar que en cuanto a vistas no tiene nada que envidiar a los otros caches. El Cerro de San Pedro es un inmejorable balcon a toda nuestra comarca y a la Sierra de Guadarrama, y en dias claros se alcanza a ver las provincias de Guadalajara y Toledo sin dificultad. El paseo que vais a realizar es uno de los mas populares para la gente de Colmenar y por seguro que no estareis solos.
Al cache se llega tras una constante subida de 2,1 kms (Aprox. 5500 pasos) que se inicia en 40°43'51.11"N , 3°44'0.40"W,(Ya corregidas. Gracias a los que avisaron) donde se aparcaria el vehiculo. Saltamos el murete por la zona de la derecha y comenzamos a ascender siguiendo el camino marcado que nace paralelo a la derecha de la pared de piedra. Una vez localizado ese camino, ya no tiene perdida, pues nos sube directos al pico. Saltaremos un par de obstaculos durante el recorrido que no implican dificultad ninguna. La subida es dura al inicio, moderada en la mitad del tramo y dura de nuevo en su parte final y puede realizarse en 40 minutos si se anda fuerte y sin paradas o en 70 minutos a ritmo suave y con 4 paradas para coger aire o beber agua. (La bajada, a realizar con prudencia, en apenas 30min)
Una vez arriba nos dara la bienvenida a la bonita pradera la atalaya que antaño formaba la Ermita de San Pedro y un punto geodesico sobre dicha atalaya. A los pies de dicha atalaya hay un cofre con un libro de firmas dentro, en el que estais "obligados" a escribir unas lineas y que pertenece y es mantenido por la Asociacion Cultural Pico de San Pedro de Colmenar Viejo.
En un lugar de la pradera esta escondido el cache en forma de una caja transparente que contiene lo siguiente:
- Hoja con la curva de nivel de la subida al Cerro
- CD con una recopilacion de mapas topograficos
- Muñeco Lego
- Monedas de Guatemala, El Salvador y una muy bonita de la antigua URSS
- Cromos de futbol (Incluye uno del "niño" Torres)
- Guia Turistica de la Basilica de Colmenar
- Limpia CDs
- Gafas de sol
- Boli, Lapiz y Log.
De vuelta a Colmenar se recomienda visitar la Ermita de Nª Sra. de los Remedios, que es un agradable lugar para recuperar fuerzas y disfrutar igualmente de un bonito entorno y vistas.

Cache located in San Pedro Peak, where three diferent towns have their limits: Colmenar Viejo, Soto del Real and Guadalix de la Sierra.
I decided to create this cache because Colmenar Viejo city already has 2 other caches and this place is perfect to locate a third one. Doing this, we invite foreigners geocachers to spend a whole day here, doing "3 CACHES IN A ROW". The landscapes you will find in this one, are diferent but so good as in the others. San Pedro Peak is a perfect place to enjoy of the beatiful 360º view over all the towns around and the GUADARRAMA MOUNTAINS. In a clear day it is even posible to see Toledo and Guadalajara province beyond Madrid. This walking is very popular for the people of this area, so surely you will not be alone, specially in the weekend.
You will reach the cache after a walking up lineally a distance of 2,1 Km (Aprox. 5500 steps)that starts in 40°43'51.11"N, 3°44'0.40"W (Already corrected), where you can park your car. We jump over the little wall in the right and start the climbing up following the way that runs paralel to the big stone wall. Once you find this way, it is imposible to get lost, because that way goes directly to the peak. During the walking, you will have to jump over two little obstacles, that are not dificult at all. The walking is hard in the first third, moderate in the second third and again harder in the last third but can be done always walking and even with medium aged childs. You will be in the peak in 40 minutes if you walk hard and non stop or in 70 minutes doing 3-4 stops to drink water and recover energies. To come back to the start point, you will need no more than 30 minutes.
A beautiful stone tower, that is part of an old destroyed church, will welcomed you to the peak. In the base of that tower there is a box with a signbook where all the people arriving there write notes, names, feelings and comments. This signbook IS NOT THE CACHE and belongs a cultural club based in Colmenar Viejo called Asociacion Pico de San Pedro.
Somewhere in the peak there is a box with:
- Cartography maps in a CD
- Topography level curve of the peak
- Lego toy
- Guatemala, El Salvador and old CCCP coins
- Spanish football players pictures and wildcards (Incluiding one of the famous Fernando Torres).
- Tool to clean CDs
- Turistic info of COLMENAR VIEJO BASILICA (Located 8 kms away from cache parking)
- SunGlasses
- Pen and logbook
Driving back to Colmenar Viejo, you will find a litle church called Ermita de Nª Sra. de los Remedios that is the perfect place to visit and recover energies enjoying with the nice views and the nice garden.
