Geocache Description:

Ok, bad news first. It's 1.15 miles uphill to the cache with an elevation rise of 600 feet.
Good news, you will get some great views and it's all down hill on the way back!

Great Outdoors Cache

Cache is a ammo can full of things you might use or need while enjoying the Blue Mountains.
Please try to stay with the theme when trading.
Anything that has to do with hiking, camping, fishing, or hunting will do.

Some of the original trade items are:
Flashlight
Emergency Blanket
Mini Compass/whistle combo
Compass
Hooded Poncho
Hand warmer
Deck of Cards and Checkers game for evening campfire entertainment.
Duct Tape
and a few other misc. outdoor goodies

Please stay on the trail until you reach the switchback at this waypoint: N 46° 08.600 W 117° 47.998
This is where the trail reaches the top of the ridge and is the easiest route to the cache. Cache is aprox. 180 feet North of the switchback.

1.15 miles @ 600 feet elevation rise. Trail is 12-18" wide with a few switchbacks.
If you have conquered Tucannon 7 & The Goblet of Fire, you should have no problem with this one.

It's the Blue Mountains, what more do I need to say..

Plenty of parking at this location near the trailhead: N 46°08.158 W 117°48.523

Your dog will love it!

Pulled two of the little hitchhikers off me after I made the hide. use repellent!

Found a friendly garter sunning himself on the trail near the first switchback. Watch for buzztails, you never know....

There is a fire ring near the trailhead. Check the Umatilla National Forest homepage for latest campfire conditions.
There is also a signboard at the end of S. 4th in Dayton with latest fire conditions posted.
