Black teas are delicious but sometimes its worth the effort to switch to herbal teas, or technically not tea at all but tisane. The word for tea in is derived from Mandarin Chinese chá (茶) where it refers to a certain tea plant - Camellia sinensis.[3] So calling some other herbal beverage tea is inappropriate. But imagine going into a store or restaurant and asking for tisane. Not many would know. But that's an aside...
Anyway, the doctors are trying to kick me off the habit of caffeine so I'm working hard at embracing my herbal tisane nature. Rooibos is a South Afican redbush that is very easy to flavor. You can find just about every fruit flavor as well as things like chocolate mint and hazelnut. Masala Chai orginated as a blend of black tea and herbs and spices, from in the Indian subcontinent. Real chai is amazing. Home made you boil milk with herbs, spices and tea and straining the practicals out afterwards. Very tasty. The flavors added to chai to give it that distinctive flavor have been hijacked into many other products. Its no wonder that a Rooibos Chai tisane does a pretty good job mimicking the real thing. We will have Rooibos Chai and an entire collection of herbal tisanes and black, green,white teas available as well as soda and other beverages. Come meet some local cachers and enjoy some fun.
