This cache is part of the “DCNR - Legacy of Conservation” Geocaching Trail (see “Related Web Page” link above). Collect all the Pennsylvania Legacy of Conservation cards – one from each of the 30 caches in the trail – and show them all at one of the validation centers to receive a Legacy of Conservation geocoin (non-trackable). This geotrail will be archived on June 30, 2013.
This geocache is located along the Golden Eagle trail in the Tiadaghton State Forest. From the parking area (Parking location listed below), cross the road and to the right of the bridge you will see the trailhead sign. Follow this access trail to the Golden Eagle Trail (see point 1 listed below) and turn right to begin your climb. Once at the top, the trail turns right and follows the ridge down to the vista known as the Raven's Horn. CAUTION - rattlesnakes are often present. Don't mess with them and they won't bother you. The geocache is located downslope from this vista along the trail. Walk past the cache location and approach from below. After bagging the cache, continue down the trail to the Wolf Run spur (point 2 below) and turn right. You will be following an old wagon trail where they quarried flagstone - watch for evidence of this industry. The trail will dump you out onto the World Famous Pine Creek Rail Trail. Hang a right and hike the rail trail back to the parking area. Total distance is three miles.
