Facing this little park are some of the most interesting looking old homes of San Jose. I was a little surprised at how posh the neighbors were when I stumbled upon this park years ago. I was living just a few blocks away in a decrepit apartment building on 11th street at the time. You can park on 16th street on weekdays (by the nice houses), but on Saturdays Sundays and Holidays, this becomes a tow-away zone. There is some parking on William St. north east of the park.
The Cache
This is a cache you can do while wearing your nicest Italian leather wingtips or pumps. No need to get muddy or stumble over brambles or steep inclines. No need to get wet, either (unless it is raining). No need to look out for cars. No need to stumble around aimlessly either as 33 out of 56 geocachers surveyed recommend heading NNE.
Cache is a Tupperware beverage container around 9” tall. It contains a few cool trade items. Any trade items you bring must fit through the opening of the bottle (just a little under 2” in diameter). The bottle is waterproof but if you are careful it won’t need to be.
As a bonus, four benchmarks are very close to the cache if you are into that sort of thing.
Be advised the tree cover may make for poor reception so pay attention to the clues and you should be good to go.
