Welcome to the
Nonconnah-Bahn Series of Micro Caches
This series
of caches is dedicated to a stretch of Shelby County highway that
has served many of us well. I am talking about Highway 385 from
Memphis to Collierville, also known as "The Nonconnah." If you've
ever driven "The Nonconnah," you know that its straight sections of
roadway make many want to drive over the posted speed limit on
occasion. It is not quite Germany's Autobahn but our
"Nonconnah-Bahn" certainly does make the drive to the Southeast
part of the county a brisk journey. Our friendly neighborhood law
enforcement officers have their favorite spots to hide and catch
those speeding law-breakers so beware as you complete this
series.
You may
complete this series in any order but I would suggest you start at
the Collierville end and work your way back toward Memphis as the
easier ones are closer to the Memphis side. These are not your
basic "Park and Grab" caches but do not involve bushwacking (well,
one has a little bit). They are harder than the average lamp post
hide or basic magnetic key holder cache. Different containers and
techniques have been used to make completing the series a challenge
while still making it possible to complete the series in one
trip.
If you do
choose to complete the series in one trip, time yourself and post
the results in your log. Of course, if you stop to grab other
nearby caches (nothing wrong with that), your time will be off but,
hey, your list of finds will be plentiful.
These are all
micro caches so make sure to have your own pencil to sign each
enclosed log. There is no opportunity for trade items in this
series but keep an eye out for my four-cache ammo can series
(coming soon) if you have some swag to trade.
THE
CACHE
Kirby
Exit: The cache was orginally in another location
with another GC number (GCW6P5) which has been archived because of
security concerns. Parking for this cache is very close to the
listed coordinates. Expect muggle traffic here so plan to be
stealthy. You are looking for a magnetic key holder hidden well out
of sight.
