Geocache Description:

9,999 Bottles of Beer CITO
Jordan Scrub Sanctuary

Help remove the trash revealed by recent wildfires around the lakes at Jordan Scrub on Malabar on Saturday, June 28, 2008, 9:00AM - 12:00PM.

The Brevard Environmentally Endangered Lands (EEL) Program wants your help to clean up Jordan Scrub Sanctuary. The Mother's Day wildfires burned all the property surrounding the sanctuary, including a parcel we were in the process of acquiring.Thousands of beer bottles left by revelers over the years have been revealed. This is our chance to get the trash out, before the vegetation covers it again.

CITO area during the fire

We will meet at the posted coordinates (Jordan Blvd., behind Harris) and begin at 9:00am. Gloves, tools, supplies, and some refreshments will be provided. We can use all the 5-gallon buckets, and trash pickers we can get; please bring them if you can. Also bring bugspray, sunscreen and come prepared to work outdoors for about two or three hours. This event is appropriate for supervised children who are comfortable outside for several hours. There are no restrooms aside from what nature provides. After the work is done, we can have a picnic by the lake (bring your lunch), and even take a dip if you want. Watch this page for updates.
