On September 2, 1998, Swissair Flight 111 went down off Halifax with 229 lives lost. Many local people were affected by this tragedy and contributed to the recovery operation. This memorial is one of two erected to acknowledge the local communities' help and remember those who perished in the crash.

There is a small parking area but you need to watch for the entrance as it is not very well marked. The memorial is just a very short walk up a path from there.
This cache is a brown film cannister. I felt anything bigger would not be appropriate since I don't want to distract from what this site is. The cache is attached to a tree on the edge of the parking area. Be careful; people have reported poison ivy in the area.
Please be sure to be respectful of this site and visit the memorial before leaving.
