Pit Near Penn Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

brad: Unfortunately, this cache is of too much interest to the nearby biker kids who I suspect have vandalised it and make the cache unavailable.

Thanks to all who found it.

Geocache Description:

** CACHE WOULD SEEM NOT TO BE IN SITU... AWAITING REPLY FROM CACHE OWNER **

Located near the small town of Jordans, Bucks (between Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross), this cache is a short hike from a Quaker village and the burial site of Willam Penn, founder of Pennsylvania. The location is easily accessible from London on the Chilterns Railway.

Jordans is a small village historically significant for its associations with the early Quaker movement. Nearby are the Mayflower Barn (rumored to be made of the Mayflower's remnants) and a 17th century Quaker meeting house in front of which William Penn's family is buried. Our cache is a short hike up from the village along Welders Lane. Alternatively, you could get there from Gerrards Cross, hiking up from Layters Green Lane.

We hope you like spooky places - because this one gave us the creeps! The cache is located upon the rim (see 4 August 2001 log below) at the bottom of a large tree covered pit at the edge of a large clearing. It's not dangerous or anything, it's just that our imaginations were running a little wild - you'll see why when you get there! We recommend that you decode the hint before attempting to find it.

Leave your thoughts in the log book on how those "things" got down there!

Brad, Angie & Stephanie
