The Flight of Leonardo
The place is the top of Monte Ceceri (414 m), at 2,5 km from Fiesole (295 m); from there an assistant of Leonardo da Vinci in the year 1505 experienced the flight using one of his flying machines, with the result of breaking his legs. The hill is covered by vegetation, but at the time of Leonardo was bare. A stone remembers the event. To get upstream leave from the main square of Fiesole, Piazza Mino da Fiesole (from Florence Bus n.7), take on the right Via Verdi, continuing onto Via Monte Ceceri, continuing on a path bordering Villa San Michele (Great view on Florence!) until the top of Monte Ceceri. At the place a memorial stone remembers the event.The cache is a plastic box with a grey top.
The area is a public park always accessible, it is crowded generally only on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, the cache is at about 50 meters from the memorial stone in a point out of sight, take the path from the opposite side to the stone, you will find a tree with a pink and blue mark, the cache is 5 meters from that tree on the left; look at the pictures.

Il luogo è la cima del Monte Ceceri, a circa 2,5 km da Fiesole, da cui un assistente di Leonardo da Vinci nell'anno 1505 provò il volo con una delle sue macchine volanti, col risultato di rompersi le gambe. Il monte è ricoperto di vegetazione, ma al tempo di Leonardo era calvo. Un cippo ricorda l'evento. Per arrivare a Monte Ceceri partire dalla piazza principale di Fiesole, Piazza Mino da Fiesole (da Firenze Bus n.7), prendere a destra Via Verdi, poi Via Monte Ceceri, proseguire con un sentiero che costeggia Villa San Michele (Grandiosa vista su Firenze!) fino in cima a Monte Ceceri. Nel luogo un cippo commemorativo ricorda l’evento.La cache è un contenitore in plastica con coperchio grigio.
L’area è un parco pubblico accessibile sempre, è affollato generalmente solo Sabato e Domenica pomeriggio, la cache è a circa 50 metri dal cippo commemorativo in un punto fuori dalla vista, prendete il sentiero dal lato opposto al cippo, troverete un albero con un segno rosa e blu, la cache è 5 metri a sinistra; guardate le fotografie.
