An easy multi-cache to tour this historic cemetery.
The SQ in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. I feel this is a good distinction to put on this type of cache and would like to see it used here in Michigan. Please be respectful of the area, and observe their rules and posted hours, Michigan law states that you are only permitted to visit cemeteries dawn to dusk through out the state unless other hours are posted.

Stage 1:
The Wixom Cemetery is located on the northeast corner of N. Wixom and W. Maple Roads in Wixom. Please enter from W. Maple Road at N 42° 31.900', W 83° 32.260' and follow the driveway to the parking coordinates of N 42° 32.000', W 83° 32.234'. Proceed to the coordinates listed for this cache to find the Michigan Historic Marker which will give you a little information about this cemetery. Read the information on that marker to locate the date of the first known burial on the property and the number for the history marker. For all calculations please place a decimal between the first and second digits of the requested four digit number.

Stage 2:
N 42° 30.094 + Year of first burial
W 83° 30.759 + Historical Marker Number
This will bring you to the grave marker for Timothy P. Barrett, father of the earliest known person on the grounds. From his marker, collect the year of death his age when he died -- both the years and months (YYMM).

Stage 3:
N 42° 30.067 + Death
W 83° 23.136 + Age
After a short walk you'll find the marker for another Barrett who had served in Korea. Find his years of birth and death.

Stage 4 (Final):
N 42° 30.035 + Birth
W 83° 30.259 + Death
Another short walk will take you to the final stage of this cache. Its a small clear container with a logbook and room for a few small items. Please bring your own writing device.

Out for some exercise with rootee2t and lwnam91. There was a little discussion about how to arrive at numbers for stage 3 that kept us in the fence. In the mean time lwnam91 found the object of our search without a GPS and we were able to pick up the trail.

Cache was pretty stinky and the papers were all pretty torn up. Needs a refreshing. It's being housed in a zip-lock bag for now.

3rd of 40 finds while caching in the Wixom/Novi/Livonia area with my caching buddies Rootee2t and y2kcompliant on a chilly winter day.
y2k needed this cache for his variety pack challenge, and I'm a really big fan of SQ caches. We had the hardest time with stage 2 (Not sure why), but luckily I was able to muscle out stage 3, and then we found stage 4 about 30 feet off of our projected waypoint. The cache is in a state of disarray and should be refreshed/replaced. I'll post a maintence log.

Out caching with y2kcompliant & Lwnam91 on a cold winter day. Glad we had sun! This was #3 of 40 finds for our trio today. Had trouble reading the #'s off stage 2 stone so we did the only thing any true cacher would do...muscle cache it. Lwnam91 found our next big name. I discovered what was covered by the snow to distinguish it from all the others. Got the necessary info to locate the final and we had it in hand in no time. The contents of the original container need some TLC by the CO. It and several sig cards and log book are all in a gallon sized zip-lock. TFTH
