Geocache Description:

This is part of a series of caches that take you to places where President Barack Obama spent time while growing up here in Honolulu.


In 1971, 10 year-old Barack Obama was sent from Indonesia back to Honolulu to live with his grandparents, who lived here at the Punahoe Circle Apartments. His mother remained in Indonesia with his 1-year-old sister Maya.

Punahou Circle was Barack's principle residence throughout most of his 5th through 12th grade schooling (1971-1979) at Punahou School. This location remained the home of Obama's beloved grandmother, Toot, until she passed away just before the November, 2008 presidential election.

Note: Punahou Circle is private property located across Beretania Street from this cache. Please do not trespass!
