This is not a real easy location to get to. You will have to travel up the Baird Springs Rd. From there you have to take the railroad maintenance road that goes up and over the tunnel. (N47* 15.631 W119* 58.268. THIS IS SNAKE COUNTRY
This is a location where it was reported that Chinese Laborers had lived while building the railroad tunnel to the NW of the sight.
Today there is one rock igloo style house still standing. The last time I was here there were two left. It would be sad if it were the victim of vandalism.
If you stop to think about these houses, they are held up by direct lateral pressure of one rock against the other.
If you walked to the Northwest between the two bluffs, you can see the east portal of the tunnel. Walking to the south you can see Falls Lake. Be careful you are above a cliff to the RR tracks.
There is the remains of a Massey Furgerson tractor over on the WSW edge of the lake. It rolled over the cliff back in late 1960"s to early 1970's.

THIS CACHE HAS BECOME ONE OF THE FAVORITES TO VISIT. ON APRIL 3, 2005, SOME CACHERS WHO VISITED THE CACHE MARVELLED THE HISTORICAL VALUE OF THIS SITE. THE SPOT WHERE THE CACHE WAS HIDDEN GAVE THEM SOME CONCERN REGARDING THE HISTORICAL ASPECT. THEY COLLECTIVE DECIDED THAT THE CACHE SHOULD BE MOVED A FEW FEET AWAY FROM IT'S ORIGINAL LOCATION. THEY CONTACTED ME AND I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THIER DECISION FOR THE REASONS GIVEN. IT IS NOT SO MUCH FOR THE HIDE BUT RATHER SHARING A LITTLE HISTORY WITH OUR CACHING FAMILY. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF THIS LOCATION COULD BE PRESERVED AS A HISTORICAL SITE AND HAVE THE MEANS FOR BETTER ACCESS TO THE LOCATION.

Well we finally made it to the right spot. We walked around for awhile looking in the ruins of all the collapsed huts but were unable to locate the cache. I should have guessed that Mr. G would not have made it easy although am glad that he got me up there to explore those old huts. I am amazed at the size of them and makes me appreciate the things I have even more. Will definately have to go back and find the cache just to try and get some photos with a camera not just the phone.

We had to get out on such a beautiful day. Found our way through a maze of roads after a while and drove right up to the cache site. Interesting, thanks for bringing us here.

Would have been a great idea to look at this one on google earth before we set out. We mistaken thought the coords for the RR access road was leading us to the "straight up" the hill fork instead of the easy grade. But the hike was nice even though the wind was really blowing at some exposed areas. The "houses" were really interesting. I made a quick count and found the remains of about 14. I'm sure there were more. The area around the site was very interesting also; the basin, lakes, waterfalls, orchards and basalt cliffs. It would have been fun with more time to explore. My wife and I speculated on the "houses" now we'll have to read the link. Thanks for bringing us here.

We really wanted to do this cache, but when we saw the road we knew there was no way the Prius was going to make it up and we didn't leave ourselves enough time to do the longer hike. Next time.
