How Geocaching Works
This is a two-part multi-stage cache located in the rather scenic and well-kept Holden Cemetery. It is placed in honor of Grandma (Mabel) and Grandpa (Lewis) G*force.
There are two Mabel Larsons in this cemetery. Be sure to follow your coordinates to the proper spot.
To find the final cache location, note the year Mabel Larson was born and died which equal ABCD - EFGH.
The final cache location is at: N44 06.DHD W089 11.43F.
Lewis and Mabel Larson raised six children and lived on a farm several miles south of this cemetery. Some of the farmland is now home to Lake Alpine. Their children attended the one-room schoolhouse that still stands at the corner of State Highway 21 and 22nd Avenue. Before Lewis farmed, he was a carpenter and built several homes in the Wautoma area. Mabel was a well-known baker of pies and other scrumptious baked goods. In fact, in the early days, she was the cook at one of the local favorite restaurants, The Moose Inn, which is still located on Hwy 21.
As this is classified as a cemetery cache please note it is NOT hidden on any grave marker or site. If there is a service going on, or folks are visiting their loved ones when you arrive please be respectful and come back at a later time. Your understanding and compassion for those folks will be appreciated.
The WSQ in the cache title refers to Wisconsin Spirit Quest. This acronym is used by cache owners in the state to identify cemetery caches.
Oh, and by the way, this is one of those rare cemetery ammo box finds.
