This SMALL CACHE was placed near a trailhead for the Highlands Trail. It is designed to help you locate the trail entrance (which some have found hard to find), give you a quick first challenge and kick off a good day of hiking.
The Highlands Trail in a great natural resource that is tremendously underutilized. A few geocachers have been working to make a circuit worthy of a good day hike plan. If you map things out well, you could bag a number of caches and complete a decent hike.
This cache provides tracking for the north end of the Highlands Hike before crossing Glen Road into the Sparta Mountain WMA. There are numerous "No Trespassing" signs but as noted the property owners allow an easement for the historic Highlands Trail for hikers. No bikes are allowed. Stick to the trails with the markings as pictured below to keep yourself on trail
Even though this is a small cache in the woods, it is not so difficultly placed. Follow the coordinates to the spot and then look.
The cache holds a logbook and pencils. May be able to accomodate a small travel bug.
