We are holding this event in Plymbridge Woods, a wooded valley on the banks on the Plym which in springtime sees the woodland floor covered with wild flowers including wood anemone, wild garlic, primroses and bluebells. Several old quarries with interesting industrial archaeological remains now support an abundance of ferns, mosses and lichens. The site is home to many animals, including a herd of fallow deer, and a wide range of birds. Kingfishers and dippers can be seen along the river, and lesser spotted woodpecker and tree pipit are found within the woods. Peregrine falcons breed on an old quarry face within the woodland.
Please meet at the published co ordinates at 11am, there is ample free parking in the large National Trust car park. The National Trust Warden will be on site and will have supplies of bags and litter pickers, please bring some gloves with you for litter picking.
At 12am, meet back at the car park with your bags of rubbish, the Warden will be on site to take away all the rubbish we have collected.
Plymbridge is one of our favourite places and we have an Earthcache a short work from the CITO Event. For more details check out GC2GNKW.
Everyone who logs an “Attended” at a Cache In Trash Out (CITO) Event over the CITO weekend earns this year’s CITO souvenir for their Geocaching profile.
Many thanks to Peter Davies, the National Trust Warden at Plymbridge Wood for his kind permission and assistance with this event.
