Geocache Description:

I've been wanting to do a CITO on the water for a couple years now but never found a good spot. Then, I placed a couple caches on the Grand River and noticed a location that needed some help. Well, the weather's warm so now's the time.

The CITO event will be at the posted coordinates. You must be there to log the event. Showing up at the launch is not the event and will not count. We'll launch around 6pm from upstream at the waypoint below. Kayak down, pick up trash and find a cache or two, then finish at Grand River Park boat launch (psst, it's the other waypoint below).

The island where the CITO is at is almost a mile downstream from the start. If you want to paddle upstream a mile then you can just do the CITO and head back to the launch point. That's up to you.

Bring your watercraft, some gloves, and a grabbing tool if you feel the need. We'll provide the bags and ties. This place catches all the debris that runs into it so there is a lot of trash. There is also a lot of disgusting here. This spot is pretty nasty in the warmer months so that's why I rated the difficulty a little higher. We won't be able to clear it out completely but I expect we'll all fill one bag of trash to a manageable level in order to get to the end 5 miles down river. So that's the plan.

I'll show up at the end a little before hand for anyone wanting to stage their vehicle and ride to the launch. I can take about 4-5 people without kayaks so we'll work this out when we know who's coming. I'll post announcements as we get closer.
