Geocache Description:



This cache takes you through parts of Belgrade's city center by visiting some of the many monuments in the city.
You are kindly asked to hide the cache as it was hidden when you found it.

The posted coordinates will take you to the Monument to liberators of Belgrade in 1906, the first public monument in Belgrade.

The cache is a micro plastic container with a logbook inside. Please bring a pen with you to sign the logbook.

A pleasant walk from the starting point, through all the waypoints to the cache is around 4.5 kilometers, if you prefer you can also use public transportation.
During the walk, you will discover monuments dedicated to the above mentioned leader of the First Serbian uprising - Karadjordje, Prince of Serbia Milos Obrenovic, Prince of Serbia Mihailo Obrenovic III, Ivo Andric - a laureate of the Noble prize in literature in 1961, Petar II Petrovic Njegos - Prince-Bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church of Montenegro also known as the writer of poems such as Mountain Wreath (Gorski vijenac), the Light of Microcosm (Luca mikrokozma), the Serbian Mirror (Ogledalo srpsko), and False Tsar Stephen the Little (Lažni car Šcepan Mali) and some other monuments.

The monument to liberators of Belgrade in 1806 is located in Karadjordjev park which got its name after Karadjordje, leader of the First Serbian uprising against the Ottoman Empire. It was erected in 1848 by Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic in memory of the liberators of Belgrade in the First Serbian uprising.
Besides the two years mentioned above, there is another year on the monument (A), the next monument is located at N44 47.A-990 E020 27.A/2+38.5.

When you get to the second monument, count all the letters (B) on the plate below the monument, the third monument is at N44 48.408 E020 27.72*B.

The inscription on the third monument has four words, count the letters of the word which begins with A and you will get a number (C). You will find the fourth monument at N44 48.582 E020 27.80*C-56.

When you reach the fourth monument you will need to count the pockets on the coat (D). The location of the fifth monument is N44 48.680 E020 27.929/D+464.5.

At the fifth monument count the horses (E) and they will lead you to N44 48.794 E020 27.300*E+31.

At the sixth monument you will spot a year (F) which points to N44 48.982 E020 27.F/3-7.

When you reach the seventh monument, count the cities on the pedestal and go to N44 49.091 E020 27.70*G+51.

At the eighth monument you should take the year of birth (G) and go to the last monument at N44 49.273 E020 27.G/20-14.65.

The ninth monument has a year written in Roman numbers (H) and the cache is so close, around 2 meters above the ground at N44 49.281 E020 27.H/20-11.5.
