A nice walk with great views. The view from the cache is one of my favorites.
I found this spot while biking in the area. I couldn't ride my bike all the way to the cache location so I walked the rest of the way. It may be difficult to find the correct way in, but once you do it should be easy. There are steep slopes and areas near by that are marked no trespassing. Please be careful.
This cache can also be accessed via the water or across the ice in the winter. This is also one of my favorite places to snowshoe, snowmobile, and cross country ski. There are plenty of trails in the area but LET IT BE KNOWN you WILL need to pay a fee at the entrance. Well worth it in my opinion. There is a nice beach here and plenty of wildlife to see out on the trails. You can bring your dog here, too. ANOTHER WARNING!! Hunting within Range Pond State Park IS allowed!! If you are out during hunting season, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND WEARING SOME BLAZE ORANGE! This is for your safety and we all want to live to cache another day.
So please enjoy this beautiful area and tread lightly so we can all continue to have access to this land.
When placed, the cache container contained: Logbook, pen, pencil, Just The Tip Travel Bug, The Travel Turtle Geocoin, Sublime patch, Deftones patch. Update 7/3/2020: New cache container is smaller and only has a log. Please bring your own writing utensil. BYOP
Congratulations to hoamdezinahs and fishingearl for the co-FTF!!!
UPDATE 4/13/2018: Maine State Parks has contacted me and asked to me include the following information in my description. "entrance is only sanctioned through the park entrance gate, where the fee is due year-round (to an attendant or the iron ranger, clearly marked at the booth)." So please abide by this so we can all continue to enjoy these beautiful areas. Thank you.
