As our first cache in Phinikia island could not be hidden there safely anymore, we decided to start a new one, that drives you to the island so as to get some clues and then find the cache in a safer place!
Phinikia is a small picturesque island at the edge of the saltworks situated between of Messolonghi and Etolikon. On the island stands a small 18th century church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The island was a favourite visiting place of the romantic poet Lord Byron during his stay at Messolonghi.
Phinikia is a really interesting place to visit so as to admire the lagoon and the local saltworks. If you are lucky you can even see floks of swans and flamingos that comes at the lagoon once a year. The sunset at the location is amazing. Durring the summer, you wil probably see people taking medicinal baths, in the warm waters of the salty lagoon.

Μιας και η κρύπτη μας «Φοινικιά» χανόταν διαρκώς και δεν μπορούσαμε να την κρύψουμε με ασφάλεια στο νησάκι, αποφασίσαμε να δημιουργήσουμε μια καινούρια, που σας οδηγεί μεν στο νησάκι ώστε να βρείτε κάποια στοιχεία αλλά είναι κρυμμένη λίγο πιο μακριά σε ένα πιο ασφαλές σημείο.
Η Φοινικιά είναι ένα μικρό γραφικό νησάκι στην άκρη των αλυκών που βρίσκονται μεταξύ Μεσολογγίου και Αιτωλικού. Στο νησάκι υπάρχει ένα μικρό εκκλησάκι του 18ου αιώνα αφιερωμένο στην Παναγία. Το νησάκι της Φοινικιάς αποτελούσε αγαπημένο τόπο επίσκεψης του ρομαντικού ποιητή και φιλέλληνα Λόρδου Βύρωνα κατά τη διάρκεια της παραμονής του στο Μεσολόγγι.
Η Φοινικιά είναι ένα πραγματικά ενδιαφέρον μέρος για να επισκεφτεί κανείς ώστε να θαυμάσει την λιμνοθάλασσα και τις αλυκές που υπάρχουν εκεί. Αν είστε τυχεροί μπορεί να δείτε τα κοπάδια κύκνων και φλαμίνγκος που έρχονται στην λιμνοθάλασσα κάθε χρόνο. Το ηλιοβασίλεμα είναι υπέροχο! Κατά τη διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού πιθανότατα θα δείτε ανθρώπους να κάνουν ιαματικά μπάνια στα ζεστά νερά της αλυκής.
