Geocache Description:

Another Pokey Plodder Event
First Lord Hill, now the North Creek Trail

This cache is a Meet 'n' Greet--drink coffee, meet other cachers, trade caching stories and TBs. Afterwards, there's the possibility of hunting for caches along the 3.5 miles of the North Creek Trail between McCollum Park and North Creek Park. (Ratings above are for the event cache only.)

Who: Anybody who wants to come and drink coffee (or whatever your choice of morning drink is) and share caching stories and travel bugs with us. Strolling the NCT later is not required to attend this event, but your presence at the above coordinates and the stated time is.

What to Bring
A thermos (or a vente) of your favorite hot breakfast beverage, maybe some doughnuts to share, your TBs and coins to share and trade, your best caching stories.

When:Saturday, March 8, 2008, 7-7:30am. Make sure to sign the event logbook.

Where: The A-frame picnic shelter at McCollum Park. Coordinates above are for parking; the shelter itself is very near NCT: The Wall, one of the caches on the post-event bookmark.

Post Pokey Plodder Event Fun
If after drinking coffee you feel like doing some caching along the North Creek Trail, some of us are going to plod our way south. We will be doing the two car shuttle, with the majority of us parking at the event, and one or two people parking at North Creek Park. Here's a bookmark of NCT caches: GA's NCT Bookmark.

Post-Post-Pokey Plodder Fun
Lunch is on your own, but, for those interested, there are several restaurants along the route--pizza, hamburgers (basic and fancy), sandwiches, Mexican, Indian, sushi, teriyaki, two Starbucks, Coldstone Creamery, Jamba Juice, a Mongolian grill, a couple of small American restaurants, etc.
FAQ

Q: I'm a slow hiker. Will I be able to keep up?
A: Of course! We're all slow; that's why we leave early! Our mantra is "I may be slow, but I'm going to get there!"

Q: I have kids. Can I bring them along?
A: You bet! We'll need them to carry us back! Seriously--our group will probably travel at the pace of a distracted 4-year-old, so they'll fit right in. The trail is stroller-friendly and, because it runs behind the main shopping area of Mill Creek, it's easy to leave the trail if you don't want to walk the whole distance.

Q: I'm a fast hiker. Can I still go with you for post-event fun?
A: Yup! But make sure you bring a fast hiker friend to go with you as the rest of us will be far behind. You can even bring a bike or your inline skates.

Q: The event is too dang early on a Saturday! Can I still come and plod with you?
A: You sure can! We'll be leaving as soon as the event wraps up, but you won't be able to log the event.

Q: I want to do some caching--when will we be finished?
A: Well, there are 15-20 caches to be found along a 3.5 mile route--take the Fibonacci prime of the distance, multiply by the third root of the number of caches (keeping in mind the uncertainty factor), carry the two,... Oh, say noon-ish--emphasis on the ish. If you have a schedule to keep, you can always shorten the walk--maybe leave your car in a lot in "downtown" Mill Creek, walk a mile or two back to McCollum, then cache your way back to your car.
