Geocache Description:

This ammo can is located in the rocks north of Gerlach on the Soldier Meadow road. The hike is only .15 miles from good parking.

This cache was established to the momory of Dick Renshaw, known in the caching circles as BajaRichie. It is in the Black Rock Desert, a place he liked best and where he wanted his remains to be. His ashes are scattered in the vicinity.
Dick was born in Lincoln, NE and spent his childhood in Franklin, NC. Dick studied geological engineering at the University of ID in Moscow, and graduated in 1963. He was a kind and generous person with an upbeat personality and an outgoing nature. He loved sports and was a star baseball and football player in high school, and an avid fan as an adult. He liked Mexico and Mexican food, and had a small house in Baja. He loved animals and was especially fond of the dogs he rescued from the beaches of San Felipe, Baja Norte, Mexico. He also really liked beer. Dick died of a sudden heart attack with no serious prior symptoms. He was well loved and will be greatly missed. Once you find the cache you can find a stone within forty feet and almost directly south of the cache. This stone has been engraved as a tribute to Richie. It is the only rock in the area that is not angular but is more a river rock. It has more orange color that the other rocks in the area. Please return it to its face down position. Thanks for visitiing. Hobbithiker lives in Gerlach and had expressed his willingness to help support this remote cache. Thanks, Jim.
