3598 Oklahoma's First Travel Bug Hostel Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

TresOkies: I won't be putting this cache back at this location. There's a new landowner and it appears they will be building a house on this property. Thanks to everyone who visited all these years.

Geocache Description:

The first Travel Bug Hostel in Oklahoma. Part of the Greater Hydro Cache Trail.

The Travel Bug hostel is located just south of the eastbound exit ramp of Interstate 40 at Exit 88 (Hydro/Carnegie). There is a good place for eastbound trucks and RVs to park just off the exit ramp. Westbound trucks and RVs can park a quarter mile north at the intersection of Route 66 and SH58. The cache is on private property with the permission of the owner. Local police know about the caches in the area, so if you meet one of these fine gentlemen, just tell them you are geocaching.

You will not have to cross any fences to retrieve the cache. If you are caching at night, be careful. The cache isn't far from the road, but the ground is a little bumpy and there are some sand-burrs. For both east and west bound traffic, the on-ramp is approximately one mile further down the highway from the off-ramp.

30 March 2011 - This piece of land was sold this week to an out-of-town owner. I'll try to talk with the new owners, but from what I understand, they plan to put a house on this property. They probably don't want geocachers dropping by their front porch, even as nice as we can be most of the times. I'll leave it active for now, but this is just a warning.
