Geocache Description:

The previous Geocache that brought Geocachers to Shepard Park was lost when the city put in a new sewer system in the area. The new cache located in the park is a bison tube with room for only a log so BYOP.

Shepard Park is one of the four city parks in Rhinelander. It is the smallest and the least visited. Shepard Park is named after Gene Shepard who in 1893 created a creature called the Hodag. The Hodag has since become the mascot of the city. To learn more about Gene Shepard and the Hodag, put Rhinelander Hodag in your search engine.

Shepard Park features a nice view of the Pelican River.
