Geocache Description:

Explore the unique sculpture park known as LakenenLand!

*** Please note: I placed this cache 12 years ago and the owner finally moved the sculpture that I originally used as the waypoint for this cache. It has been moved about 30 - 40 ft south(?) from its original location. If someone who has done this cache already can stop by and grab the new coords. for the sculpture, I will be happy to make the needed changes here. In the mean time instead of emailing me with the name of the iron worker, send me a picture of your favorite sculpture! Sorry for the inconvenience. ***

This cache is in a park called Lakenenland, between Marquette and Munising. The property is owned by my cousin Tom Lakenen. It is a sculpture park that is open to the public at no charge, there is a donation box if you feel so inclined. The sculptures you will see are all made from iron. They include an alligator, flowers, dancing figures, animals and all sorts of creatures. Tom started building them a few years ago as a hobby and eventually he made so many that he had to find a place for them, so he bought some land and is creating a Sculpture Park for all to enjoy.

You can enter the park off M28 at N 46 29.548 W 087 09.139. Tom is aware of this virtual cache and is eager to see who visits. Please take a minute near the end of the circle to sign the log book at the lean-to welcome area. The park is also accessible from the main snowmobile trail between Marquette and Munising.

Although this cache is available 24/7, I highly recommend going there on the weekend to catch the artist at the park. If you go on Sunday afternoon 2ish, there is usually a group of musicians playing music at the bandshell. If you are musically talented, bring an instrument and join in on the jam session...they would love to have you!

*** This step is not required, instead, email me a picture of your favorite sculpture*** You will need to email me with the name of the iron worker that is located at the coordinates of the cache in order to get credit for this cache.

Thank you and have fun!
