This is a great short hike! From the parking lot it only take about 20 minutes to get to the site. Once you're there, the view is gorgeous....with line of sight all the way to downtown Spokane.
This was a favorite spot to hike to as a kid, so we thought a perfect spot for a cache. There are several caches in the general area, so easy to make a day of geocaching. Who says there's nothing to do in Suncrest??!!
The best place to park is at the Outpost. The area has lots of basalt rocks, so wear good hiking shoes. For fun, we hiked up the rock wall and trekked back down via the trail. If you go up the rock wall, it's certainly not a 2 rating...you'll need to stick to the trail for that. There are a few hills to get your blood pumping, but a fairly short, easy hike.
Once there, enjoy the view!! If you hike all the way to the top, there is a small pond with lots of wildlife and even better views. Although it looks like the "party crowd" has also found the great viewspot, as there were broken bottles and cans everywhere and two abandoned vehicles. (be sure to bring an extra plastic bag to pick up trash!)
The cache is a small rubbermaid container with a waterprooff camera. Be sure to take a photo and replace the camera in the cache. Our trademark is also to blow bubbles when we find a cache, so we've included a small bottle of bubbles. Blow some bubbles, take a pic and enjoy the view!! (Also a Starbucks card for the FTF!!)
Happy searching!!!
